Guardiola: We need to do our job and not follow Manchester United

Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola commented on the victory over Burnley (2:0) in the match of the 22nd round of the Premier League.

“Today we had certain problems with the first pass, movement at the beginning of attacks. We played great football in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Unfortunately, we were unable to score the third or fourth goal. In the last 15 minutes we were just passing the ball with no intention of attacking – we wanted to control the game.”.

Guardiola also spoke about the standings of his team in the Premier League. Based on the results of 22 rounds, the “citizens” occupy the first line in the table, gaining 47 points. The closest pursuer – Manchester United – has three points less.

“I think we need to do our job and not follow Man United. Thinking about other clubs is a big mistake. When we were 12th at the start of the season, we didn’t think about winning the Premier League pin up. Then the team hoped only to get into the Europa League. So it’s not a series of matches. All we have to think about is the next game,” Guardiola was quoted as saying by the BBC.

Earlier it was reported that Manchester City set a club record for the number of wins in a row.
